TIME FOR THE RED HAT'S

TIME FOR THE RED HAT LADIES TO GO OUT AND PLAY

Today we went to Hastings Park Race Track to win and lose some money playing the horses and slot machines
It was a beautiful day, lots of fun and laughs.
It's a really nice race track, however under renovations now, but the track and the view is spectacular.

This is Reta and Pat H. looking splendid in beautiful jackets they bought at different stores at different times!!

Would you believe it!!! Here closest to the window on left is myself, across from me Reta , and then beside me, Patricia and then Pat H.
Look at those jackets, again, all bought at different stores, at different times!!

What a hoot!!
Got home tired and broke and I was ready to just put my feet up when Tom said he was taking me out for dinner. So, I had the most delicious, and huge shrimp salad, at the White Spot.
Now, I have my PJ's on and I'm tired and this is going to be a short blog! I had a wee headache earlier and took X strength Tylenol and they always make me sleepy, so guess where I'm heading. Bath and a few pages of my book and off to dreamland.

Sorry for the short blog! But what the heck, it's the weekend!

WEEKEND'S HERE

PRETTY BOUGAINVILLEA
Hello on Friday! I hope everyone has something fun planned for the weekend, and I hope you had a good week.

Today, I gave in to having bad hair days, and went for a perm. I always hate the way it looks so perfect when I come out of the hairdresser's shop and can't wait to get home and mess it up a bit and make it more like me. The messed look is me!

Then I met up with Tom who walked to the Library, and we settled in to watch a little talk show with two celebrities, Mike McCardle and Arthur Black, who are commentator's
on the local TV station as well as being authors of both humorous type books and stories of the unusual lives of people around the city. They were really interesting to listen to and they told some funny stories and it was a fun way to spend the afternoon.

Now we are watching Oprah and all the new type homes and gadgets they have on the market today. Wow, are there some wonderful things to be had, sadly by the rich and famous! Sure won't be in my lifetime!!
Oprah is putting her weight back on so it shows that not even those who can afford a cook to serve low cal and diet healthy food, can keep their weight off. Makes me feel good!! Because,I sure can't keep mine off!!

It's a beautiful day here in West Vancouver and the sun glistening on the water, looks spectacular.
Well, folks, speaking of fat..... I'm starving!! All we've had to eat today is a small dish of yogurt this morning, so I'm famished! Time to go make some dinner.
By the way....gas in Vancouver is $1.30 a Litre!! So, I think there will be some more walking going on around here!
Also, only one suitcase allowed on a airplane unless you want to pay an additional $25.00 for the second bag, and.....the they discovered a huge fault line for earthquakes running right through Vancouver! The economy is looking bleak and that's it!!! I'm going to stop watching the news!! It's depressing me!!!!!

I'm adding a cute little cartoon, that made me laugh, so hope it will you too!

Only those around my age and older will get this joke!!
"TO THE MOON ALICE, TO THE MOON!!"
Well, have a good weekend everyone.

Weight: 8.2 pounds

Congratulations to Grandpa Martin and Grandma Joan and to Uncle Ed and Aunt Kim, and to Aunt Meredith and soon to be Uncle Dave.

But....

A BIG Congratulations to GREAT-GRANDFATHER TOM !

A new Canuck fan say's his Grandfather!

Aren't Babies Grand
They don't have any teeth
And they don't have much hair,
They can't talk at all,
They can't walk anywhere.
They sleep all day long
And stay up the whole night,
They yell every time
Things don't suit them just right:
But with all the worry
They cause you , by heck,
They do make a home-
(Yeah they make it a wreck)
And they make you so happy,
So proud and so glad
Isn't it wonderful
Being mother and dad!

Now to tell you about our day. Off to the doctor's this morning in Horseshoe Bay, then Tom took me for a coffee in Squamish, which is towards Whistler, on the Sea To Sky Highway, and guess what I forgot....MY CAMERA!!!! OHHHH GEEEEZ!!!

Beautiful scenery along the way that would have been great to show you on here, but I promise that next time, I'll remember to take it with us. We had a coffee at Tim Horton's and drove home again.

Yesterday, we got a phone call about 5 pm from Bill and Dianne with an invitation to join them and two other couples on a cruise to Alaska on May 21st. We we're all excited and said a big YES!! However, later we did some computer looking and the ship that sailing was FULL!!! I called our tourist agent this morning and she confirmed that it was a full ship! Darn and double darn!!

So, we'll wave them goodbye as they sail past, and wish them a great trip, with tears in our eyes that we arn't with them. Something's are just not ment to be!!

TJ is missed!! It's funny how many little things we do that make us double take our thinking and realize she isn't here anymore. Roxanne keeps us right up to date though with many welcomed pictures. She looks happy and she sure found a loving home and new mommy!

Picture of the day: TJ, following my brother Mike in his park-like backyard, off to cut wood

Thought for the day: People who say they sleep like a baby usually don't have one.

HUGS FOR EVERYONE

HUGS FOR EVERYONE
ESPECIALLY
YOU!

Hello Friends..Me again!

I can hardly believe that I've been writing this blog since the beginning of January and haven't missed a day since. Everytime I begin to type, I have no idea on earth what I'm going to say today. Usually, I pick out from my saved graphics a little picture and just go from there. What amazes me, is that the counter keeps counting and I can't figure out why, but I'm glad that you readers are interested enough to click on my site each day and I thank you so much. This gives me something to do, and maybe even an outlet of some kind to either write, or just to keep in touch the only way I can.

The downside of writing this, is that nobody writes me anymore. I do have to write to some friends without computers soon, like Norma, Vernice and Clare. Maybe I'll get at that today.

Tom just came home from the chiropractors for his foot. He had his MRI and ultrasound on his leg and finally gets to see the specialist in June, so hopefully, we will find out what is the matter with it. However, being the trooper that he is, he keeps on going, even though it's painful to walk at times.
I'm heading to the skin specialist in another hour to find out about the huge big crater looking thing that had appeared near my nose, on my cheek. I suspect it's another cancer, and it makes me sick to think I may have to go through all that huge scarring surgery on my face again. However, we will all know before the afternoon is out and this blog is finished, what the outcome will be. I've always been one to wear skin screen since I was in my 20's-30's, but they say the damage is done early on, in childhood and who knew what damage the sun would do then!
So, will finish this later...

later

Well, it's now after 5 pm and getting close to dinner time. I have another melanoma and have an appointment with a plastic surgeon in May. I'm not too thrilled with this, as it means quite a chunk of my cheek is going to be searched for cancer, until they get it all, and then I'm left with another lovely scar!! However, being done by a plastic surgeon, it will be minimized as well as can be, but nevertheless, I'll be scarred even more. Remember, I had my nose done a year ago and the scar although not really visible unless you are looking for it, I do notice it, especially under certain light. He also gave me Aldarra, which I had to use on my forehead one other time. It's cream that is applied 3x week for 4 weeks and after you start using it, a week goes by, and all of a sudden your face comes up with all these hidden cancers laying under the skin that erupt into hideous blisters, then it all clears up and the skin is cancer free....for the time being. This time, I'm to use it on my complete face, so I'll be staying indoors during the day, for fear of scaring people to death! I start using it after the surgery on my cheek, so by June 28th and Meredith's wedding, then another friends wedding in July, I'll be quite a sight!

Today, he also froze some other little spots that came back on my forehead. I'm just blessed with VERY bad skin. But to look on the bright side....I'll live!!!

Then we got home and get a phone call that Tom's doctor wants to see him, as a result of his latest tests!! Gee, our appointment book is filling up!!!
On the bright side...I also got a lovely letter from my friend Vernice....snail mail!! Something we don't often get anymore but wonderful to receive.
Roxanne say's TJ is doing wonderful!!!

I'll close this off with a few pictures.

CRUISE SHIPS HAVE RETURNED

EARTH DAY, LET'S ALL DO OUR PART TO SAVE THE EARTH!

THE CRUISE SHIPS ARE BACK!

It must be Spring! This is the first cruise ship of this year, The Zaandam, which came from Hawaii, back to Vancouver. We watched it arrive this morning at 7am and the ship will return back to Hawaii at 5 pm today, on a 19 day cruise around the Hawaiian Islands, and then back to Vancouver. I've already checked if there is room for us on today's run, but they are are full up!! But, boy, could I be ready within a few hours!
We are heading into Vancouver in about 1/2 hour to meet one of the crew from the Zaandam (see yesterday's post) and I can't wait to see our man Lucky!
I'll take the camera with us and will take some pictures, so will put the post on hold until we return home.

much later in the day...

Well, it's now 5:20 pm and we are back from our trip into Vancouver. We met up with Lucky, our friend from the ship and from Thailand. He brought us a gift of their traditional clothing. A beautiful batik dress for me and a lovely gold patterned shirt for Tom. We will get all dress one day soon and put picture's on here. But we had a really nice visit with him, although very short. He makes up the rooms, so with disembarking this morning and embarking this afternoon, he's had been up most of the night gathering up the luggage, then making up the rooms. He won't be able to get to bed until after 11pm tonight, and as I type this, I looked out the window and the Zaandam is sailing past heading to Hawaii!!! Oh well...I had my turn in December!

We took the Water Taxi home and this is the view from the Taxi, looking at Stanley Park on the left and the Lions Gate to the North Shore.
Tom looking out a window onto a Vancouver Street. I think the cross street was Howe Street.

This is Canada Place and The Sails. We can see them from our bedroom window and the other side of this building is where the cruise ships arrive and depart from.
Our good friend Lucky
It's Dorothy's Birthday!!
Now you didn't think I'd forget about your day, did you Dot?
Dorothy is my cousin who lives in Owen Sound and from all the family, we wish you a very, very Happy Birthday and a wonderful year ahead.

We love you!!

Picture of the Day: The Vancouver Convention Center, near Canada Place. Quite a building!

Thought for the day! Linda's tired and still has to make dinner, so feel sorry for me right now!

TIME FOR TEA?

TIME FOR TEA AND COOKIES?

Come on in, sit right down and lets have tea! I just made two batches of cookies. so help yourself!!

After yesterday, which was a day of doing nothing, I'm still feeling kind of on the blah side, or just extreme lazy. I'm not sure what this feeling is, but I don't have much energy.
From the sound of my day, though, I guess, I did very good!!

We took the bus downtown after breakfast, this morning, to pick up our income tax from the Acccountant. We just had a coffee at a Tim Horton's and headed home. We tallied up just how much we spent this month on eating out and we couldn't believe what we were spending! So, we decided to cut back, otherwise, we'd likely would have had lunch downtown. Instead, I made spaghetti sauce and put it in the slow cooker for dinner before we left.

Before we left this morning we got a call from a one of the crew that we made friends with, on our trip through the Panama Canal on the Volendam. He looked after us and our cabin and we just fell in love with him. We've met him a few times now, whenever he was on the Vancouver to Alaska run, and had coffee, and we bought little gifts for his two young children back home. We phoned him in Thailand at Christmas and he was so thrilled to hear from us and we got to say hello to his family. He wants us to meet him tomorrow when his ship arrives in Vancouver, before heading right back to Hawaii, which is his run for the moment, then it's Vancouver to Alaska again. He said it's SOOOO cold here, after Hawaii!!! How well we know!! Wait until he gets to Alaska!!

He also has gifts for us from his homeland, so it will be exciting to see what he has for us.

This is our very good friend, Lucky! We sure hope to cruise with him again one day! He's the BEST! He has the most wonderful smile and laugh.

Vancouver is very cold and they say how unusual it is for this time of the year, but I'm being tricked I think, because, I've heard we've had unusual weather, ever since I arrived from Ontario! And to think what weather Ontario is getting!!! Wow!!

Tomorrow when we go downtown, I'll remember this time to take the camera and show you some pictures on tomorrow's blog of life downtown, Vancouver.

Picture of the day: TJ, checking out the cat. He's loving Ontario and being treated like a Queen!

Quote of the day: Depend on the rabbit's foot if you will, but remember it didn't work for the rabbit.

THIS IS ME TODAY ON SUNDAY

IT'S 'S OF THOSE DAY! Woke up this morning and this is how I felt. I got worse as the day went by. I just decided that it's been a hard week so I was going to stay in bed, read and eat ice cream and strawberries!

And boy did I ever sleep and I'm ready now to head back to bed and sleep some more!

If I was a working girl, I'd be taking a MENTAL HEALTH DAY!!! Sometimes, you just need one!
I'm worn out of thought, ambition, energy and my fingers don't even work well.

SOOOOOOO!!

Guess what, you get a reprieve tonight and no long blog!!!

I'm heading back to bed!

Tomorrow is another day, God be willing and the creeks don't raise! (Don't know what they mean by the "creeks don't raise", I just remember it from HeeHaw show. Or was it The Ernie Ford Show?) Geez I better stop this, or I'll hear from Doug, laughing about my age again!

Thanks for continuing to check in and I'll see you tomorrow, when I we have done something, but we did nothing today, except snore and you don't want to hear about that!!

Night night!!
