PRETTY IN PINK

Saturday and all is well!
This is going to be one of my short blogs today, as I just don't seem to have any energy today and my eyes are hurting. Just tired I suppose.
Tom and I decided our pans were just too worn out and the teflon coating was coming off and it just wasn't too healthy. We went over to this neat kitchen store over in Vancouver and bought two different size pans, and I've never had such expensive pans in my life!! I could have bought a whole set of the best pots and pans for what we paid for these ones! So, now, I can't blame the bad cooking on the pans, it must be the cook!
Before the pan place we stopped at the Tilly store and Tom bought a lovely vest with 8 pockets. Really nice. I bought a thief-proof purse, that will be handy for our traveling.
Then we stopped for our dinner at Sea Lovers and had fish and salad, and then home to put things away, feed the cat and now, I'm going to lay down for awhile. This getting old is a drag!! Somebody up and stole my energy. I wish it could be thief-proofed!
That's it for today! As Tom says.."back on the morrow".

END OF ANOTHER WEEK

What beautiful animals!!

Friday already! If the days keep going by so fast, I better start enjoying every single minute, of every single hour and every single day!! Not that I don't, but I better start "Living In the Now!"
Tom said this morning, that all morning, I grumbled and mumbled and was negative about just about everything that came out of my mouth. I was aware of some of those things and they were well deserved to be negative about them, but not everything!! So, this afternoon, I stopped my mumble, grumble mood and began to look at positive things......only because, I ran out of negative ones! What the heck...somedays, it just feels good to be a grouch!
So, what sweet and wonderful things can I tell you about on this beautiful sunny Friday??

Well, we did what we often do and went to the Library! Our home away from home! I haven't been keeping up my book list and I've forgotten half of what I've read lately, but last night I finished "The Bookseller From Kabul", and it was okay. I think tonight, I'm starting "The Inheritance Of Loss", so I hope it's good.

I was going to go to The Bay or wherever to buy two good teflon fry pans. Ours are a mess and the eggs never come out looking very good, but by the time I got home from the Library, I was HOT and just came home, kicked off my shoes, changed to cut-off pants and had a really cold beer! Then I spent the next two hours on a steady path to the washroom! Wow, talk about it going right through me! Never even stopped to say "hello!"

Now, I'm having a glass of wine...what an old alcoholic eh? However, it's many hours since the beer and the wine is like drinking pop! Good old Spumonti!!

Well, that's pretty well the whole day! Not real exciting, but enjoyable just the same! I hope everyone had a good one as well and I hope you have a wonderful weekend too.

Picture of the day: Hi to my friend Betty!! I wish I was with you tomorrow Betty, because those yard sales won't be the same without us there eh! Betty and I used to play together as kids in Capreol, and never stopped being friends when we both ended up in Belleville. She's a treasure and I miss you Betty Boop!!!

Thought of the day: You can't have everything-where would you put it?

PERSPECTIVE

Perspective, depth of field, f stops and infinity, and many other terms that I learned in my night school photo class, many years ago. What fun it all was learning how to use a 135 SLR Canon camera...not the digital kind! I even used to run down on my lengthy lunch break and develop them in the dark room at the College and then during my coffee break, run down and retrieve them from the drying rack. I think unrolling them from spool to spool in complete darkness was the hardest thing to get the knack off. That, and inhaling the chemicals and fumes from the developing fluid....ohhhh, horrible!! If anyone reading this from Belleville and remembers Rich Viau, he was first a student who worked with us in the Library, then he became a Professer in Photography. A great fun person with that artists, hippy look. and we'd both squeeze into the darkroom together as his hands guided mine in teaching me to unroll the film from the camera onto the spool for developing. Close quarters in there, and we had a few good giggles escaping through the door to the people waiting in line to get their roll of film off the spools. Nothing like you think though...Rich and I had the same sense of humour and kept cracking jokes. Rich lives out here in BC somewhere and if anyone knows where, let me know! I'd love to know what happened to him and maybe we could all get together for a lunch and gasp at how we've both changed by the ravishes of age. He probably wears a suit and is bald now but I'd bet his sense of humor is unchanged!

Poor Lynn, my friend I worked with, would end up being my subject in lots of these pictures and of we'd go out on beautiful Fall days, while I tried to capture great pictures, that would be critiqued by the MASTER in class that week. All those photo's are again at home, and how I would love to show you some of them. They are pretty bad and pretty darn funny! One day, I'll get them back and if this blog is still going, I'll include them.
Now, I get my camera out and can't figure out what to do with it anymore. It was a fun course and I very much enjoy taking pictures, so I should get it out and get studying it again, but it won't be the same without Rich, Lynn and of course Bob T, from AV dept. who helped me with many questions that he answered so patiently.

I love the new digital cameras that fit in the purse, but I had every bell and whistle that went with this camera and what fun I had with it. I should take it up again, and hopefully it will all come back to me, because right now, even figuring out a digital one at my age is a exhausting challenge! Besides carrying all the paraphernalia that goes with it, is now too heavy to carry!

Well, sometimes, I just download a picture of anything and that sets my story! So thats it!!

Today was cool, we did ZIP all day today and I'm already tired and ready to go back for an early night in bed. Man, I need a kick in the keister to get myself out walking!! Tomorrow to the Library...for sure!!

Picture of the day: Not sure this will work, but going to try it. I think it works....did for me. TJ is carrying on a conversation with Roxanne's friend. She has he dog Molly over and TJ's friend. They go walking together and get along well.. Hope it works for you!!

HI THERE!

Hello, hello, hello....can you hear me over the thunder of the herd of these creatures? Those birds must bother them like mosquitoes bother us!

Yesterday was a full day and today as well has been busy. Where do the days go?
Isabelle and Ken came over yesterday in their brand new big truck, that pulls their brand new big motor home! What a beaut!!

We had a good dinner and then tried out the truck by driving to the top of Cypress Bowl on Hollyburn Mountain. Right to the top!! I don't know what the elevation is but there is snow up there and quite cool and very beautiful!

This is the view from HALF WAY up the mountain. Very beautiful. Can you pick out the Lion's Gate Bridge and the green area to the right is Stanley Park, also on the othr side of the Bridge where you see more greenery. Those low line of white things, is Canada Place and where the cruise ships arrive and depart from. We live, pretty well, straight down the mountain in front of us.....thereabouts!

Almost at the top, at least as far as the road will go. From here, we'd have to ride the ski lift. Look at that SNOW and it was sure considerably cooler up there!!

Belle, making a snow angel!! In her 70's, but still a kid at heart! ( I may get a nasty phone call for revealing her age!)We needed longer arms to get us all in the picture, or a bear to appear out of the bush, to take a picture for us!!

Tom in his shirt that was a gift from a friend in Indonesia. Pretty flashy eh! It's really pretty up close, and the guy wearing it, is pretty nice too!!

Today, I went shopping for the afternoon with my friend Patricia. We had lunch and then a relaxing sit down and break with a coffee. Then home again. That was the day so far!! We have yet to have dinner, but we are munching on Cheezies, (made in Belleville), so we probably may skip dinner tonight.

Enough pictures for now, it's Thought of the day time!

If you want to be seen, stand up. If you want to be heard, speak up! If you want to be appreciated-sit down & shut up!

HI ON TUESDAY

WEll, it's going to be a short blog tonight, as I'm tired and my sciatia is killing me and I'm yearning for a hot bath and soaking for awhile to see if it helps.

A busy day today! Up and away early to North Vancouver for a doctor's appointment...the kind us woman hate!! The one where we are squeezed until we think they will bust!! You know what I'm talking about!!

Then to pick up a few things we needed, as we were having company for dinner and I was VERY busy, getting it ready. So, what I'm going to do, is save it all for tomorrow night when I have the pictures ready to show you and I'm not so tired, that I can hardly think.

Until tomorrow....byeeeeee

POPPIES

Isn't it amazing, how beautiful a poppy is and how a field of them waving and swaying in a breeze, is a sight to behold, yet looking at them, can bring two very opposite thoughts to mind. One thought of poppies will remind us of Remembrance Day and of those that died, to give us the freedom that we enjoy everyday. The other thought, is the destruction a poppy field can do, when harvested and turned to opium that can destroy lives and wreak havoc in so many ways.

The day began with a little sun, but it was iffy as to if it was going to stay out or not. It did, until, what I call the turning point, and that's around 4 pm or so. If it's sunny, it will rain, if it begins with a rainy day, at approximately 4 pm, the sun will shine. Well, it's 4:08 and my prediction has come true and it's now started to rain!! Who needs a weather forecaster....just go with my theory!
We we're up early as the building was having the fire alarms and the everyone's individual smoke alarm tested and batteries replaced if needed. So the alarms went on and off for about an hour this morning. It's a sound that grates on the nerves and I was glad when they were finished, but about that time, we were heading out the door anyway!

We had a few stops we had to return things, pick things up at, and then of course our regular Tim Horton's break, then to pick up some groceries.

My sciatica nerve is bothing me after doing some small bit of lifting this weekend, and it upsets me to know that it's just a reminder that I can't do the things I could do so easily at one time, and that age is tapping on my shoulder.....or hip and back!

I got the ironing board out when we got home to do the dreaded ironing, but had to put it away, when the pain pills I took just refused to give some relief! Damn, getting old isn't fun!!

That red spot on the left leg is where it's killing me!!!
OUCH!!
Tom said he's making dinner tonight, so that's a relief!

Picture of the day:

This was back on our Panama trip. I think we were in Columbia. In August, we'll be gone again, but NORTH...to ALASKA! I can't wait!

Thought for the day! The closest to perfection a person ever comes is when he fills out a job application
