Saturday

We missed our breakfast out this morning, so out came the Cheerio's again. We did have some blueberry's and strawberry's on the Cheerio's, so what the heck, aye!! Gourmet breakfast!

After breakfast, I put on the running shoes and started out down the seawall thinking I'd walk to Dunderave, but 1/2 way there, I ran out of steam, so took out my cell and called my friend Patricia, and begged her to take in a wandering, tired, worn out person and maybe be kind to give me a cup of tea. So, we chatted and exchanged gossip over tea and then she asked me to look at her computer and show her how to do something. I turned it on and she never knew what to do with all the messages regarding updates, so I clicked on the okay to update and somehow, probably because we were chatting, I okayed a virus protector to run. One that they scan the computer, tell you that you have 32 viruses, and tell you they will fix it for $49.95. Well, I tried everything I could think of to delete that program, and it was just impossible and the big advertisement for it kept blocking the screen. Poor Patricia, I'm sure was wishing, I had just walked on by and made it to Dunderave!!

So, I called Tom, to see if he'd pick me up and come in and look at the computer to see if he could fix it. We tried to uninstall....impossible!! We tried to install a good and also free virus protector on the computer, but wouldn't install until we got rid of the one we were trying to get rid of.

We called Martin, the computer expert and he said it was a piece of spam that is embedded in the computer and he'd have to be there, to do what he does and delve deep into the files, I've never even heard about and delete it. However, as I write this, I think and wonder if I had tried one more thing that just occurred to me, it maybe would have worked!! Hmmmm,

So, Patricia, I'm sorry, I screwed up the computer, and hopefully, will be able to solve the problem for you soon!

Just as Tom and I were driving home, I saw the sign for the Pipe Band concert about to start in 1/2 hour, so I yelled STOP!! Tom didn't want to go, so I went alone. I was lamenting I didn't have the camera, AGAIN!! Then this really nice man sat next to me and we began chatting and exchanging info about one another and by the end of the evening, he said he'd send me some of his Pipe band pictures. He was single, and I was thinking DRATS....where are my single friends when I need them!! An eligible bachelor, good looking and a really nice man!! Too bad you weren't here Roxanne!

The Pipe Band was excellent as always!! There's something about a man in a skirt and wondering what he's wearing under it eh?

That's my blog for tonight. They seem to be getting shorter, but that may be a blessing to some!!Enjoy the rest of the weekend!!

FAIRY DUST

Sprinkling Fairy Dust Your Way
Beautiful fairy picture, courtesy of:
"Gale Franey, digital artist"
This little fairy is sprinkling her fairy dust to everyone reading this, to wish you a wonderful weekend! Looks like I jumped the gun yesterday and thought it was Friday! I was quite surprised this morning when I got up and found out it wasn't Saturday!! To think, I'm always moaning about how fast the time is going and I'm pushing it along faster then it should be!

I had hopes of going out for breakfast this morning as we usually do on Saturday, so was disappointed when I had to bring out the Cheerios!!

I had another sleepless night last night, so went back to bed this morning for a little while. Then the school yard across the way had a big activity day and the kids we're wild and noisy, and sounded like screaming savages, that soon ended, my "just dropped off" sleep. Also, I have a kink in my neck and so I feel like a wreck! Anybody got a gun??

HAPPY RETIREMENT JOHN
To a wonderful, long-time friend, Congratulations!!!

We hope you had a great party, and I hope my letter and contributions arrived in time.
Now, it's time to relax, enjoy and put all those past problems, regarding work, behind you!
You will love retirement!!
I regret not being at your grand affair, and also wish I was home to enjoy retirement with you and Eva and Christina. Wouldn't we have fun!!

Seems like only yesterday, retirement was just a long time away thought!!
Now it's here!!

So many people at the College will miss you! You we're the STAR!!!!

Best wishes from Tom and myself! Enjoy and come and visit!!!

END OF ANOTHER WEEK

Another week, zippo, gonzo, goodbye, never to return! I hate time moving away from us, but nothing much we can do.

I'm also very, very tired today. I woke at 2 am and couldn't get back to sleep, so sat out on the deck, in my fluffy robe and a blanket and my ipod and watched a new day come to life.

We had company arrive at 11 am this morning and I made lunch, and as the afternoon went on, right up to 5 pm, I was having a hard time keeping my eye's open and could even feel that hot feeling that comes over you when just dead tired. However it was a lovely afternoon.

So, my blog is going to be very short this evening, because, I'm going for a wee nod.

Have a great weekend everyone, I hope you have something special to do. See you tomorrow!!

June 18th

Well, here we are again! I can't believe, I've kept this up since January, and the numbers continue to climb, thanks to you the reader! When it hit's 5000, wouldn't it be wonderful if EVERYONE noted the hard work that goes into this, by signing the guestbook. Granted, I do enjoy doing it, even though it takes a whole lot of time, and sometimes, can be very frustrating when nothing works out, but I'm still here!!

I like this little picture above. Anyone my age will remember the Cupie dolls or Kewpie they may be spelled, but I remember them mostly on a long stick, sold at the circus, with little feathers around their middle. Brings back many memories!

Remember the metal horse you could win at the circus?
I remember Mom had one of these and just loved it. In fact we had two! I wonder what happened to them, they made wonderful door stops!

When I was a kid, this was a movie, I went to see at least....at least....10 times!!
I loved it and was in love with everyone it the movie. Then my little friend, Frances and I would play circus, and some of the imagination that went into making the circus and charging the neighbourhood kids, 5cents, blow's my mind when I think of it today! Kid's today, just have no idea of these kind of things, and what fun it was. Imagination is a wonderful thing!!!

Did I mention....I met Charlton Heston, in fact had dinner with him, took pictures of his arm around me and he was very charming....that's another story!!! I wish I had my pictures here again to show you them. One of these day's if I go home, I'm coming back with the whole big
box of pictures, no matter what it cost!!

Well, that's my blog for tonight! Hope it brought back some memories for you too!

Here Birdy, Birdy

FREE HOME TO GOOD FAMILY
Everyone had certain little hobbies, or certain, things they collect, or things they just LIKE!!
I like birdhouse's! I loved my backyard at home, with the flowers growing, and colourful birdhouse in the tree's and hanging on the back wall of the garage, and along the fence, where I had a secluded little sitting spot, to enjoy. I loved to do decorative painting and would paint the birdhouse's, some round, some square, some double deckers, with little designs and lots of bright colours. Some would be themes, like an churchhouse, for those religious birds, a old school house, bell and all, or an old country store, with barrels of seeds in them, and little wagon wheels, and ice cream signs. I can't even now remember all the different ones I had, but they are gone now, given away to friends, family and whoever wanted to take them off the fence when I moved here.

Batman's entertainment! These miserable little creatures, I had many battles with! One thing I don't like is squirrels!! Damn little vermin, like rats with long tails!! The bothered the birds, tried to steal their eggs, and eventually got into my attic, and down the wall and was chewing on my electrical box.

I ended up trapping many of these little pests and taking them many miles from home, to a park-like setting where they we're on their own!

Cute they are, but a pain in the butt!!!

Anyhow, I enjoyed the birdhouse's and collecting and decorating different kinds.

One thing, I worried about was washing on the clothes -line, and bird poop, but the birds must have appreciated their nice new homes, and never once left little messes on the clothes. I enjoyed all the little twittering and chirping and seeing the little baby birds poking their heads out of the holes, when mom returned with dinner.

Picture of the day: Batman found a different birdhouse, up at the cottage, but with so many people around the nest was abandoned and the squirrels eventually got the eggs. So sad!!

Thought of the day: When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

PEONY TIME

I love these flowers!! I had a big bush of peonies out in front of my house, plus a few in the back yard. June is the time they came into bloom, and the smell drifting in through the screen door was so delighful. Then we'd get a heavy rainfall and down they'd fall, soaked with rain, which would generally be the end of them. Short and very sweet!

Speaking of sweet.. we were in an Iranian food market the other day and because I love candy floss, and because Tom was looking for Saffron oil, (couldn't find it, and a good thing too, as saffron is VERY expensive.) We ended up buying this saffron flavoured candy floss that the Iranian fellow was telling us how delicious it was. I could hardly wait to get home and try it.

Well, it didn't look like our candy spun cotton candy, it looked and was the same feel and texture as well as colour of TJ's fur, and tasted like I figured his hair would taste! Blah!!!! Tom and I had a mouth full of it and was trying to eat it and it was impossible to spit out, as it was kind of melting. We had to eat what was in our mouth to get rid of it! Blah, Blah, Blah!!!! I'll feed it to Joan next time she comes. She loves candy!!

I just came back from a walk to the Library with my friend who lives across the road. We went the back way through the little path that goes through the woods and over little wooden bridges. It's a pretty walk. Then we stopped and had a tea at the Senior Center, which is quite a Center!! I should go more often!

Yesterday, we were invited to Merediths (Toms daughter) for a Father's Day lunch. It was a fun day are those always with Tom's family.
Everyone chowing down!
I have a roast beef cooking in the oven with lots of garlic and onions and the smell has me salivating, and my tummy knawing with hunger. So, I'm leaving now, to go fix the rest of dinner.

Picture of the day! The name of our place in West Vancouver

Thought of the day: No food tastes as good as the food you eat when you're cheating on a diet!
