GOODBYE OUR WONDERFUL BATTY

GOODBYE, OUR WONDERFUL PET
It is with deepest sorrow, a very heavy heart, and many tears, to tell you that our 17 year old cat Batman, was put down yesterday.

The vet told us, his heart was very bad, his kidneys had begun to fail and without even doing more tests, she could tell that what she would find would not be good. It was time to put him at rest and let him go.

Batman was named by my youngest Grandson, who was too young to know his colours but was aware of the cartoon hero's of the day. Batmans siblings got the name of Peter Pan, and Purple.

Batman was born in Ontario, on my daughters farm. I was to pick one of the kittens to take home and I picked up Batman, looked at his beautiful colour and his wide, amazing green eyes and fell instantly in love. He could be mine only if I agreed to keep his name Batman.

17 years is a long time to grow with one another and there are so many memories of him that will always live in my heart. He was always my constant companion, following me everywhere I went, from room to room, always only comfortable when I was close by. I'll miss so many things about this wonderful creature, and his "brrrrup" sound of hello. We'll miss him running to the door to greet us as we came back from doing errands. I could go on and on with things about Batty that we will miss, but he will always be kept alive in our hearts and memories. He will be so very much missed!!

When I moved to BC, along came Batman on the plane with me to begin a new life here in Vancouver. He now had two people to love him. Tom, who renamed him Batty, tried very hard to win him over and with a few treats and many loving petting, and soft words, win him over he did!!

Your favorite chair is vacant now...No eager purrs to greet me.

No softly padded paws to run ecstatically to meet me.

No coaxing rubs, no plaintive cry, will say it's time for feeding.

I've put away your bowl and all the things you won't be needing,

But, I will miss you little friend, for I could never measure.

The Happiness you brought me, the comfort and the pleasure, and

since God put you here to share in earthly joy and sorrow,

I'm sure there'll be a place for in Heaven's bright tomorrow.

OOP'S

I bet that hurt!!
Thursday night...my favorite night on television. Survivor night!!
I was yawning and my eyes half closing this afternoon, so both Tom and I went for a "cat nap". He said, my head hit the pillow and I was in a deep sleep and snoring so loudly that he had to get up!! I slept on for a few hours! When I have those "little cat naps", I ALWAYS wake up in the most horrible, foul mood and all I want is something really cold!
Have you ever taken those big seedless grapes and pulled them free of the vine, and put them in a dish and into the freezer? When you eat them, they are crisp, cold and addictive!! Like eating a popsicle and a delicious little treat when you want something sweet and cold.
I must have been one of those miserable children that when put down for an afternoon sleep, woke up in a fuss and crying. My poor Mom!!
So, I'm wide awake for Survivor tonight, even though, I've been outed from the pool already. I picked two losers to win!! Still, I enjoy the show.
Other then sleep today, it was pretty uneventful. I made Tom's favourite "triple ginger biscotti", which is delicious, and also some peanut butter cookies. Did some puttering about here, and that was it!!
It was an enjoyable day to just stay home and do mostly zip!
So, with that, my evening is looking much the usual. TV, bath, read and bed!
See you tomorrow!!!

HALLOWEENS OF THE PAST

It's getting closer and closer to spooky, scary Halloween. A great site for those who love this fright, fun night, try http://www.history.com/minisites/halloween/

My daughter Erin, LOVES Halloween and I mean LOVES it!! I think she gets more excited about it then Christmas!! She decorates her house with every witch, ghost, and scary monster she can find. Her house has pumpkins glowing everywhere, orange lights, big air puffed white, but cute ghosts, as big as her house itself! The inside as well as outside is also decorated, with orange tableclothes with napkins adorned with happy halloween pumpkins. She starts late summer to make Halloween costumes for everyone in the family. She has a terrific imagination, so her costumes are outstanding and very unique.
I have rarely ever received a normal picture of my granddaughters from the time they we're babies, the only ones I would get are of them decked in beautiful hand made costumes.
Here's a few good memories of those past Halloweens...
Sarah as Dorothy from Wizard of Oz and Erica as the Wicked Witch of the North

My Two Little Beatniks!

My Two Little Harem Dancers....look at those dimples on Sarah!!! Gosh, I've always wanted dimples....I have them now, but not in the right places!!!

Erin, my daughter as Methuselah....see the yucky snakes all on her head.

My Grandson and I....boy, did we get a hoard of candy that night!!!!

As for myself....I've never been fond of Halloween! I loved it as a kid, but as an adult, it seemed Halloween fell right when my favourite program was on TV and I would miss it with the 125 kids that came to my door. Up and down, up and down!! One Halloween, I set the huge big bowl outside and let the kids help themselves. The bowl was empty in 10 minutes!!! Now, that I live on the 7th floor and in Vancouver, where the big thing is fireworks, I just enjoy, watching the light show and the big booms that echo against the mountains as fireworks are set off all around our condo, which has a three sided view, so if my favourite show isn't on...I go take a hot brew and put on a warm coat and just go and enjoy!! I like Halloween now!!

MY DAY TODAY

My brain doesn't work too very hard, so you know what work my hands are doing!

Actually, my hands do many things in a day! In fact, I wish there were some sort of gizmo, like a pedometer, only for the hands instead of the feet. My hands probably wouldn't work so hard, if my brain would behave better and I didn't have to back track to whatever it was I was suppose to do in the first place!

It would be horrible to be without hands, I've pretty well adapted to no brain!

Today, I went shopping for new living room chairs and also to just browse the mall, and on the way home get some needed groceries. Tom and I looked at chairs the other day and couldn't find anything but overstuffed, massive and big leather, hulking things! Not to mention....very pricey!!! We found one we fell in love with, but it was expensive and two buy two to match was more then what we had planned. It also made me feel good, seeing as they where so expensive, they really didn't suit our living room.

Today, I found two lovely, recliners for the price of the one we looked at the other day. Tom wasn't with me, but I'll drag him there tomorrow to see what he thinks.

As I was in the furniture department, there was an announcement over the loudspeaker of a 5 minute sale in towels, that we're going for a GREAT price. So, I looked over and I could see towels of every colour flying everywhere!!!

There was two minutes left.....the heat was on, the stress....ohh, my gawd, what a great price....beautiful colours......it's now 30 seconds left. My hands reach in and grab two of this, two of that and two more of that wonderful colour! Just like an auction, it was "Time is OVER! I raced to the cash. The cashier would take only two more people in line.....I had made it!!!!!

Now, I would love to tell you the price of the towels, but I forgot even what the normal price was, but it was marked down 50%, plus another 25%, so I know I got 6 lovely thick oversize bath towels for the price of one!! I left them in the car, because I had to carry groceries as well at the bundle of towels up and I couldn't carry it all. Now, that I got this great deal....where do I put them!!! Man, there is going to be a great clean out around here very shortly!!!

Then home and made tacos for dinner. Tom discovered a few months ago, that he loved them, so it was easy to whip up. Tomorrow, we'll go and look at the chairs and see what Tom's thoughts on the chairs are.
I'll keep you posted!!
By the way!! We have our first snow on the mountains, and I hear Toronto had snow today too!!
Also, they are finally installing much needed new carpeting in our foyer and hallways. It should be a great improvement!!
That's it from the West Coast!! Lets' hear from some Ontario people!!
