AROUND THE WORLD WE GO-Nov 22/08

AROUND THE WORLD WE GO
I just thought I'd show you where in this "small world" that people have come in to visit lately on the blog. Some return many times, others come and go and never return. Each day it's very different and so interesting to see.

If I were to click on a pin on my site, it would open up to show many other pins and the area they have come from. As you see, there is a large concentration of pins in certain spots, such as Ontario and down the east coast. A few scattered across Canada and down through the States

Many in the British Isles, lots in Asia, and my usual two readers from Australia have not clicked in today. Where is Luxxy and Joan??

Below is where I've done one click on one pin and it gives you an idea of where people are from. Sorry, the shot is so small, but I've have to do many multiples to show everyplace. But, I'll name a few here.

Bangalor, India, Wasaga Beach Ont.,Burnaby BC.,Fredericksberg Virginia, Sudbury Ont., Milton Ont., Delaware US.,Delhi India, Minnesota, Norway, Duncan BC., Belleville Ont., Dallas Texas, Romania, London England, New Jersey, Carolina, Rome Italy, Pirmaseno Rheinland Germany, King of Prussia Pennsylvania, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Ljubljana Slovenia, Jakarta Indonesia, Dover, New Hampshire, Stockholm, Oklahoma, Lethbridge, Colorado, Chicago, China, Japan, Buenos Aires Argentina, Barcelona Spain, Bulgaria, Poland, and many more too numerous to mention, but I love to see where they are from.

So far this Saturday, we haven't done a darn thing! Had breakfast, read the newspaper over coffee, and then started to check emails and do this blog. I had a glitch in the computer, but managed to fix it. Martin would be proud of me!!!

The sun is shining, the day is lovely, and I think I'll nudge Tom to go outdoors somewhere!!!

Bye for now!

I'VE BEEN LAZY THE PAST FEW DAYS

LAZY ME!!

I've taken a few days off from doing the blog, so I hope Dianne isn't awake all night without her nightly send off!!

Let's see.....what have I been doing the past few days? I can remember what I did 10 years ago better then I can yesterday!!
Since I went down to sit by the sea in the sunshine (with sunscreen), by the sea shore,(try saying that quickly 5X in a row!), things have been very quiet and non eventful around here. I think I did some baking one day, cleaned out a few drawers and quickly filled them up again. Tom saw one empty drawer in the dresser and got all excited that he might have some more space of his own, but my clothes where in there before he could hardly finish his sentence. My, we lack for storage here!! I have clothes stuffed into the closet, but it's a small closet, and clothes also in those big plastic containers under the bed. I had to buy those lifts you put under each bed post to raise the bed up, to allow more storage.
The weather was lovely one day, but I didn't take advantage of it and get outdoors. Since then, it's been rainy and very windy.
Yesterday, I went to my regular hairdresser Agnes, for a perm and she nearly fell over at how short the other hairdresser had cut my locks a few weeks ago, when I couldn't stand the length anymore!! She could hardly get the perm rods in! You should see it now! Actually, it's not that bad, it's just in that first perm stage where it looks like a new perm. I'll wash it tonight and it should relax some. I sort of look like a Brillo pad!! Still too short!!
I'm getting more excited about our trip to Antarctica, and have packed and repacked our suitcase's (in my mind) a dozen times already, trying to decide what is best to wear. I get on the net and look at monthly temperatures down there, and it's not that cold, much like here in Dec. actually and out of 22 days, not many of them are extreme cold. Once we head out of Chile, we have about 3 days of cruising I'm told before it starts to cool down, then after we've rounded that dreaded horn and I've seen enough penguins, we start heading north again, and into the heat as we head towards Rio. So, I think, I'm only bringing what I'd wear here for the cold and just add layers and then shorts and light clothes for the heat. We met a couple from the States on our Alaska cruise in August, and we made a bet that I wouldn't put my bathing suit on and get into the pool as we rounded the horn! So, Jack, get that trophy ready, because if I have to sit on the ice covered pool, I'm doing it!! Never give me a dare!!! I'm always dumb and stupid enough to take the challenge!! Picture will be sent as proof...believe me!! Rio yesterday was 98 and very humid, so I'll go from hypothermia to heat stroke within a few days!! Yikes!! I found out today that the stores all close down about 2 in the afternoon! Ohhh great!! I'll be on the run to shop once my feet hit Terra Firma before the natives go for Siesta!!
Today, was cleaning day, and we ended up steam cleaning the rug again!! A white rug is a curse!!! We ended up steam cleaning the big chair and footstool and all the dining room chair seats too. They all turned out nice and bright looking.
Then I got really lazy and had a sleep!!
So, that's my day so far!! Tom wanted to go out for coffee, but it was easier to make it here and eat some homemade biscotti's then to go out in this miserable weather.
So, maybe tomorrow, I'll get active and write a more interesting blog!!
See ya!!

I MUST GO DOWN TO THE SEA AGAIN.....

I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by,
And the wheel's kick and the wind's song and the white sail's shaking,
And a grey mist on the sea's face and a grey dawn breaking.
I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.
I must go down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life,
To the gull's way and the whale's way where the wind's like a whetted knife;
And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover,
And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick's over.

- John Masefield
For some reason, memory work from High School has stayed with me all these years. This is another of those poems embedding in my mind and heart.
Today, it was a BEAUTIFUL, warm day with lots of sunshine to fill me with Vitamin D, as well as to sooth my soul!
I went for a walk down to the pier then down along the Ambleside beach, and of course, again...forgot my camera! There was no wind, the sun was lovely, the waves we're rolling in, and I found a nice warm log to sit and put my back against and watch them and become almost hypnotized by the rolling action.
I sat watching as a large log was unsuccessfully trying to land itself on the beach, but just as it almost made it, along came a huge wave, pushing it back further out. I almost felt like taking my shoes off and pulling the poor thing in!
Where do the waves come from when there is no wind? Where have they been and what have they seen? All these melancholy thoughts takes over the mind, when watching the sea and it's motion.
Finally, I decided to move on, and the beach I was walking had a small opening around part of the sea wall, that I could walk on and up to the top of the seawall, but in the time I had sat there, the tide had come in and my pathway was now blocked by water. I had to backtrack!
Then I noticed the ships sitting waiting for a higher tide to proceed under the Lion's Gate, had begun to move in. All had Chinese names on the ships, so they had come a long way.
Speaking of High School, I got a lovely letter from another Capreol High Student today. It's wonderful to hear from someone from another time in life, who can confirm that...yeah...I once was young! It's so long ago, I sometimes wonder if my youth is all myth! To hear all those names of classmates from long ago, was a real treat. Roxanne, you we're right when you told me throwing out my HS yearbooks was a big mistake!!!
Well, I'm into another good book. This one by Susan Howach (remember her Irene?) So, off to my bath, and crawl into bed, until the words on the page begin to blur and I start to read each paragraph a second time, and realize it's time to put the book down and call it a day!
Until tomorrow....see ya!

SAME OLD QUESTION...WHERE IS THE TIME GOING??????

Well, I know where it's going, it's just that I don't like it! I don't want time to stand still, but it could slow down a tad.

I remember where a week seemed more like three weeks, until I reached about age 50, and then the week seemed more like only 2 days had passed by.

I can't keep track of things anymore and without writing things on my trusty calendar, I'd be totally lost, and missing appointments and important dates.

It's not that we are that busy either! Granted our days are filled with one thing or another, but it must be that these events are much less then we once did, or it feels like it now takes more effort to do them! Or is it, that there's no rush to get things done, no routine, or panic, and boy do we procrastinate!! But still the time flies!

We are contented to be at home, enjoying each others company, doing mundane chores (that now feel like major ones) and just enjoying being!!

Being.....what a great way to describe it! We are just BEING!! Comfortable, quietly, enjoying, just being. I guess another word to describe it, is couch potato's!! I don't want to think or delve into that therory! I'll stick with "Just Being!"
Whatever it's called, I love who I'm being with!! How can life get any better!

If I could save time in a bottle

The first thing that I'd like to do

Is to save every day

Till eternity passes away

Just to spend them with you

If I could make days last forever

If words could make wishes come true

I'd save every day like a treasure and then,

Again, I would spend them with you
To my Sweetie....I love you!
And that's my blog!!
Byeeeee
