JUST SITTING AROUND AND LEONARD COHEN REMINISSING

sitting around

Although it was a busy morning, with our 2nd new fridge arriving, and getting the wrong one they sent us two weeks ago sent back, we had to get it emptied and the new one filled.  So, we are pleased with this one and it suits the other appliances well. I think we’ll keep this one!

So, now we are waiting for the hands of the clock to move around, as we’ve been invited to Toms Sister and husbands, for a rack of lamb dinner!! Yum, Yum, Yum!!! I LOVE rack of lamb!! However don’t want to arrive too early, so we are just sitting here watching a documentary of Ozzie Osbourne. What a mad man!!!

I got a few more pictures from a fellow fan of Leonard Cohen, that was sitting near us during the concert and sent us some pictures, which was wonderful of him. I’m still relishing in the concert, it was so fabulous. I’ve downloaded a few more of his songs on here, if you have a look for them on the music player. I love “Tower of Song”, where he played a little piano on stage. I just read….well more like skimmed and reading certain parts of a book about him. He’s much to deep for me!! But some interesting facts. He lives very starkly, meditates 3 hours a day, has two children, a sweetheart, suffered depression most of his life, (but with a mind like his, it’s no wonder). He’s extremely intelligent, very religious, and as he said in one interview I saw, he said he was noted as being a ladies man, but he could count hundreds of thousands of nights he spent alone. His voice has deepened with the habit of cigarette smoking, his band is the greatest, and he’s just a very soft spoken nice man. The book talks about his earlier LSD habit, but that’s long ago in the past. He’s happy now, no depression and I still say…what a joy to have the opportunity to see and listen to him in person.

I LIVE ANOTHER DAY AND SEA TO SKY HIGHWAY AND SQUAMISH

 Alive_and_Well_logo_rgb

Okay, okay, I’m a wimp! All my worrying and moaning and groaning about going to the dental surgeon, was not as bad as expected….BUT……next week, I have to go through all this fretting AGAIN!! Today, ended up being only a consultation, where the dentist took another x-ray view of my bad tooth to see it would show the root canals, but I wasn’t so lucky!! He said, some people have more then 3 canals, some less! I asked if I might have only one, and he said no, because of the shadow around my tooth showing infection. I only understood half of what he said, but what did click with me is that this procedure which will take place in two appointments of two hours long each. It possibly could not be able to fix, but they want money up front….$1,600, and more if it has to be extracted, if they can’t fix it!! They tapped on it and every other tooth, and I felt nothing, they rubbed hard on my gums for pain…nothing, so I thought, that was all a good sign, but apparently it just means the antibiotics worked good!

Above is the link that tells what can and might be done to save that little miserable tooth!

So, enough of this tooth business…for now!

After the dentist office, we went out to breakfast, and then on one of Tom’s mystery trip that took us up the Sea to Sky highway to Squamish! It was a beautiful day, so I’ll just show you some pictures of the beautiful scenery along the way. I wish the pictures showed just how incredible the sights are!!

I wish I could show you all of the many pictures I took today, but they just don’t show up in picture’s like they do being there! But it’s a beautiful scenic drive, and most of my pictures where taken out the car window, moving at 70 K’s, so they are just so-so!! But it was a delightful day, and we ended up at Tim Horton’s for a coffee and treat, and back home again!

Hope you enjoyed the pictures!

OHHH MY GAWD Aaaaaargh!

dentist-main_Full

The dentist office just called to remind me of my appointment tomorrow!! How could she think I’d forget, when I’ve been walking around with pain, that while standing out on the balcony, 7 floor’s up, I wondered if I jumped, could it end the pain once and for all!! Sometimes that alternative, seems better then the dentist poking around for two tiny and elusive root canal little channels. The antibiotics did lessen the pain somewhat but still, it’s there as a constant reminder, of the excruciating procedure of what is ahead, which has my mood as foul as…..I can’t think of an explanation of how foul it is, it’s that foul!! Not only have I been in a Extra Strength Tylenol haze, which has me sleeping most of the time, but even when awake in a drug induced stage, making the most simple chores, mindbenders!! I tried drinking a good shot of rum last night, to see if that would help, but it just made me as dizzy as a bat! I was even beginning to look forward to my little trip to hell tomorrow.

So, let me now, lets go back to the dental office phone call, that has now sent me into a jellyfish of fear!! Bill, I hope you are reading this also! Bill, our Survivor pool organizer, called this morning with a sympathy call. Bill is more terrified of dentist, then I am, if that’s possible, but I believe he’s probably on the same level of fear I’m on…so hopefully he reads this, as misery love’s company!! A little off track here again, back to the dentist office call.

The Endodontic office called to reminded me of the appointment….I asked what the procedure being done tomorrow would be, as I was told earlier it was a consultation and I wondered what that entailed….why not just get at it, before I need to be put back on antibiotics, of which I swallowed my last pill yesterday morning. She said, that the dentist will look at it, tap it, feel around it, look at how deep the root is and decide if he can perhaps go ahead by redoing what has been done previously on the tooth, by opening it all up. OR…he may decide it better if he made some incisions down and around the gums, to get to and expose the bottom roots of the tooth and fix it from there, then stitch it up, or even possibly remove the tooth, fix it while OUT of my mouth and replace it into the socket!!!!! WHAT!!!!!

dentist are you ready

If this fellow decides the whole tooth is coming “out of my mouth”, for treatment, then, the tooth is staying OUT of my mouth forever and ever!! I may have found the only means to make me lose weight…….living the rest of my life on soft food that I can’t chew!! The rest of my teeth are staying, but the big chomper will be gone!! I will have to mince my food in the front few teeth!

dentist

Why do pictures of dentist always have sadistic little smiles on their faces???

Now, the $$$$ come into play here too and what our extended health will cover, so I guess, that will be another story for tomorrow!!! (That’s why the dentist’s smile!!)

They say the past comes back to haunt you someday and if my Mom and Dad where alive, they’d be telling me that now! Both are probably sitting up there on their fluffy white clouds, snickering as they eat their bowl of yogurt, as I sit and write this little story of what happened in my past!!

When I was in Grade 1 or 2, the school in Owen Sound had some sort of dental plan where the kids went for annual dental check-ups. The school always would have an older student to take us younger ones down the few blocks to the dentist. I was always terrified when they called my name! Off I’d leave, trembling in fear with my “keeper”, out the school yard, down the street, where, all of a sudden, I’d stop her and tell her that I had to pee, and I lived in that house just down that lane, and could I run home, use the bathroom and tell my mom where I was going and could she wait at the end of the lane, as I’d only be a minute. So, while they trusted my sweet little face, up the lane I’d race, sneak like a thief into the house, not making a noise at all and would hide in my bedroom closet for hours, as quiet as a mouse, hoping a knock at the door wouldn’t have my “Keeper” coming to find me. But they never did, as they didn’t know what house I lived in. I’d stay there, until I heard the kids out for lunch break in the schoolyard and I’d sneak out of the closet, and back to school and attend to afternoon class like nothing ever happened. Of course the word got back to my parents the next day, but I was always safe until it got around to my name again in another year. Different “keeper”, same story and I’d get away with it again!!! What a sneak, but oh how, I’m paying for it now!!!!

I wouldn’t be staring down the face of fear and looking at these instruments now!!!

dental tools

The story continues tomorrow!!!! I need prayers…as many as you can fit into your daily day….”Please Lord, don’t let Linda feel any pain….or empty the bank!!!

Bill

I really do need you to come with me tomorrow to hold my hand! Can you cancel your plans and come comfort me....maybe Dianne would come too!!! I know you will want to watch everything they do!!!

MORNING IN VANCOUVER

P1050173

Well, this blog isn’t as interesting at Leonard Cohen’s, but this was out day into Vancouver to pick up our income tax papers from the accountant. The sun was shining and it seems whenever we have to go over town, it’s raining, so it was a nice change!

Pretty tree’s and flower’s blooming everywhere, and it’s truly a very beautiful city.

Here’s what I snapped this morning.

P1050176

P1050182 P1050180  P1050183 Some shots of down town. One a reflection of another building in another. The beautiful trees in bloom.

P1050184

Tom decided, I needed to do some heavy praying that my toothache goes away soon, plus some other problems on my mind, so in we went into a little church, where I prayed for Wanda, my tooth and upcoming root canal, our tax bill, Tom’s health, the world, and everything else that popped into my head, that I could think of!!

P1050166 P1050169 P1050171

A cute little church with beautiful stain glass windows. The window on the left has been recently done and installed and Tom wanted to go have a look at it. See the little dog in the lower left had corner of the stain glass. Hard to see, but his little head is there.

P1050181

It was a nice morning, and we had lunch downtown.

Always good to get back out of the rat race of traffic and home again.

That was our day!!

Laundry to do, supper to make and check out what’s on TV and back into bed. The time goes by so quickly, you wonder where the hours disappear so fast…but they do!!!

Oh what a night of fantastic music and song!! Thank you Lisa and Mike for this wonderful birthday gift, of a night Tom and I  will always remember.

Here are a few reviews from the newspaper this morning, one of which I included myself!!

Mr.. Cohen & the band showed that you can have a very fine listening experience in a large venue. And a highly emotive one at that... I laughed & I cried (Bird on a Wire) & I sat memorized (In My Secret Life). One could hear a pin drop during most of the songs. He shared his exquisite & delightful soul and showed us that he's a child at heart...he skipped and twirled on and off the stage! He spoke about what an honour and a privilege it was to play for us. It was an honour to be there.

I have been to many concerts, but nothing like the spectacular Leonard Cohen gave us last night! So many well deserved standing ovations, and beautiful music and songs, poetry and laughter. Just when you thought that sadly the performance was going to end, out he came skipping onto the stage to give us more and more of absolute pleasure. It's a show not to miss and worth every dollar. I was a fan before, but how I love Leonard Cohen even more now!!! Bravo!!!!

April 20, 2009 - 10:58 AM

I've been waiting to see Leonard Cohen for years, his concert exceeded all my expectations. Not only was his performance incredible, the back up singers, technicians and the band amazing but his ability to create such an intimate atmosphere in a sports arena the size of GM Place is testament to his superior talent. Who else provides this level of entertainment for 3 hours, Leonard you are indeed "The Man".

Leonard Cohen is magic.

P1050030

If anyone out there reading this, has a chance to see this fantastic concert, do yourself a favour and DON’T MISS IT!!! GM place was packed to capacity, and the applause was loud and long, with many standing ovations for this incredible man. Sexy at 74 years of age and only gets better as he ages.

I called Lisa during intermission…9:30 PM our time, 12:30 AM Ontario time! She wasn’t too thrilled, but what the heck, she paid a huge price for these tickets, and I wanted her to know  “in the moment” how exciting it was!!

Saturday, we went to Tom’s Great-Grandson’s first birthday…how time goes by so quickly!!

Stopped crying for a moment to look at his cake that had a monkey face. Happy First Birthday Byron!

My tooth continues to ache and my antibiotics are finished, and the Extra Strength Tylenol continues to be my constant companion. It’s wearing me out, and although, I dread Thursdays consultation…..why a consultation for $85.00 ?? Just get to work at fixing the darn thing!!! $$$$$$$  I never quite understand why repeat appointments must be made! I want it fixed NOW!!! Keeping awake with attempting to keep the pain at bay is a downer for sure!!

Another thing I almost forgot to mention….remember the new fridge we had to wait two weeks for? The delivery truck pulled up on Sat., and like two kids, we where at the window watching them unload. I went out on the deck, and ohhhhh noooo, they brought the wrong fridge!!! I yelled at them to put it back in the truck, it was the wrong fridge!! Then, got on the phone to Sears, and they said, I should have kept the fridge, as it will be another two weeks until we can get the one we wanted. So, they contacted the delivery truck for us and brought the fridge back, so we can use it until ours arrives, which has now been scheduled for this Saturday, so again, we will have to clean out this fridge, move all the furniture out of the way AGAIN, and start over. Oh the trials and joy’s of life!
