A GRIZZLY TOOTHACHE

agrizzlytoothachebp5

I’m in such pain, I can’t close my mouth together. Face is a tiny bit swollen this morning, and I had one hell of a night!!! Almost beside myself!

I’ve become a Tylenol Extra ADDICT!!!! It helps for only a short time!!

He did such heavy work getting through that canal, that it’s no wonder it’s this sore, but when will it stop hurting!! How, I’d love one of his freezing needles NOW!!!

Short blog, lots of pain! Need sympathy!!!

OUCHHhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

I SURVIVED THE ENDODONTIST

endondotist

Wow, what an experience! It was very different then going to a normal dentist. After the deep freezing, which was painless..in fact the whole 2 hours in the chair was painless!!

Then they put that green mask over my mouth, I guess to just expose the tooth they where working on. Then just like the above picture he did the procedure looking through this powerful microscope! Modern technology is amazing!!

Also a TV on the ceiling, or earphones with music if you want, but I choose to have the dentist tell me every step he was doing, but I think he was to in thought to explain stuff to me!!!

He removed all the old fillings and the previous root canal, and had a big surprise when he pulled out a wad of cotton that was left in the tooth from my Belleville dentist. He said, that’s a bad thing that would gather a ton of bacteria!!

He found the root he was looking for, but it was thin and very difficult to work on. The poor guy earned his money, as he tried very hard to remove what he said is as hard as stone in the canal. He worked and tried and tried some more until I knew exactly what tool he was asking for next. Two hours and 15 minutes later, he called a halt to it, and said he’d have to give it another go. We were all tired!!  Plus, I suppose the freezing was coming out soon. He took another X-ray to see how far down in the root he was able to reach and he’s only 1/4 of the way down!!! So, he said, sometimes when you get tired you can’t figure out another way and we all needed a break and next appointment, it may all come clear on how to get the “stone” or hardness out! He said he wouldn’t give up and he was worried how I was, so told him NOT to worry about me…just don’t give up! I need that tooth!!

The Belleville dentist, that did the root canal on the one canal, did not go to the bottom of the canal, which has a curve in it, so that’s another challenge for him to do it correctly! I have a new respect for endodontic surgery.

He said my face will likely swell up tomorrow, the cheap cap(apparently not made with good material), the dentist in Belleville put on will likely fall off and not to worry about it, and to see him again on the 7th of May for the next go around. I’m not in fear of him now!!

Tom waited patiently in the office and while waiting, had a snooze. When we went out the door,  the receptionist said he was a very quiet! I bet he snored constantly!!!

MY FIRST LESSON ON BUYING ON CREDIT

free-clipart-images-4

This morning, I got two emails, asking how come I didn’t write my blog yesterday and they had checked twice now!! Wow, I  didn’t know I was in such demand!! I love it and thank you!! So, I started to write, and my old brain refused to work or come up with anything to say….not that I ever say much, except what is really nothing much more then drivel!!

If, I have no pictures to put on the blog to save me from coming up with something to write, I then go look at the downloaded pictures I have and something will bring up a memory or an idea. This little girl at the old grocery store, brought up such a story of a time in my childhood.

Seeing as I’m 65 years old, I remember these little old corner grocery stores where my Mom would send one of us kids with a grocery list of some items she needed. They had all those big jars of penny candy and this whole wall of bins, and in each each bin would be different kinds of cookies, which to a kid, especially a sweet tooth kid, like myself, it was like walking into better then a goldmine or maybe to a kid, I should say “better then a toy store” The store was owned by a very old man called Mister Reeves, and his store was at the end of our block and directly across from Strathcona School in Owen Sound where I went from Kindergarten through to about Grade 3 or 4.

The store was old, dark and creaky, and I can remember how good it would smell.  It was a sweet, yet musty smell.  Mister Reeves, was an nice man, sometimes he’d be a little impatient with me as I’d take forever trying to decide, what candies I wanted with my 5 pennies, gripped tightly in one sweaty palm, and moms list in another.

He wore an apron like the man above and if I remember correctly, even had a hearing problem, like the picture of the man above. The little girl however, looked nothing at all like the way I looked back then. No cute little red bonnet and white pinafore and carrying a basket!! I was likely a scabby knee’s and elbows, dirty and freckled face, little urchin with red braids and wide eyed, as what delectable treat I was able to buy with the money mom would always give me, to buy some wee thing for myself.

Back then, you could could charge groceries until the end of the month. I must have been in that store many times, before it clicked in my bird brain, and became aware of the purchasing arrangement. All I had to say, was put it on my mom’s bill and walk out!

So, I began to go into Mister Reeve’s store more frequently! I’d go in with the freedom of buying whatever I wanted which sometimes included taking along my friends and treating them too!!I’d buy a big box of new crayons and a book to colour in, I’d stand in front of those cookie bins and have Mister Reeve fill a big bag of those chocolate covered marshmallow cookies with a spot of jam in the middle. (They where and still are my favourites!) Only they taste 100 times better from those old wooden cookie bins !!!

A bottle of root beer, or cream soda, plus a few more of this and that, and I’d just say “Charge it” and would walk out with my bootie!!

Gosh, we women learn early eh!!

It was heaven….at least until when the end of the month came and my parents came in to pay their bill! Or maybe Mister Reeve called them, I’ll never know, but I do remember the red bum I got!!! Yeah….we got spanked back in those days, and it sure kept us from a career of crime and we soon learned what was right and wrong!!

I can remember also a real heat wave we had in the days before school let out for summer and our kind teacher sent one of the students over to Mister Reeve’s  store for 5 cent popsicles for the whole class!. That sure wouldn’t happen today!

Better days, great memories!!

YIKES..SWINE FLU CONFIRMED IN VANCOUVER

SWINE FLU

I know it’s no laughing matter, and I’m as concerned and worried about a huge flu pandemic breaking out as the next person. In the last few years that I worked in a medical office, the scads of warnings of these new, untreatable (no vaccine) and lack of enough of it, should a pandemic break out, would fill me with dread. I don’t like the sound of it so close, and if the warnings of what will happen, if not kept under control, not only will it spread around the globe, but also, create quite a panic. Soon everyone will be wearing a mask which is really a poor defense!!

Not only do we have an economic crisis, with problems galore created by that, but also the tourist industry is hurting and being squeezed even though we all love those wonderful bargains of great travel deals out there, I don’t think too many people will be taking up on the great bargains if there is talk of an epidemic looming. (As I write this, the first cruise ship, The Amsterdam, which we where on in Antarctica is sailing out to sea, heading to Alaska.) Nice to see the cruise ships again! Must mean summer!!! So, let’s be smart people….stay home if you are sick, don’t spread it around and wash your hands frequently!! I’ll step off my soapbox now..thank you very much!!

On a lighter note, it’s been a lazy Sunday! We where out later then our usual hour last night, having a delicious dinner at Isabelle and Ken’s. Enjoyable an delicious as always. We came home with a bag full of goodies also, jars of homemade marmalade, cookbooks, big bag of dates from Palm Springs, jar of caramelized onions, and a little flashlight for my key ring and some pictures that Ken printed out for us. Thanks again Belle and Ken!!!

Tom had a book he had ordered at the Library, and not wanting the staff there, think we had better things to do, as we are almost a permanent fixtures there and I’m sure they would notice, a day without us, up we went.
