VICTORIA, BC, AND TOMATO PLANTS AND FAMILY PHOTO’S

MY CAMERA

This is my wonderful little Panasonic Lumix camera, that goes with me everywhere. It fits in my purse, is fairly light, and I love it. It has a huge viewing screen in the back and many great features.

Every now and then, friends and relatives send me pictures, so I’m going to share them with you.

The following are from Shannon, my new found second cousin, who I am so glad we have connected.  She lives in beautiful Victoria, which I haven’t been to yet, but Tom say’s we will make a trip over for a few day’s this summer. It look’s so beautiful, over there!! I can see the mountains on the Island from here on clear days.

The following pictures are from my cousin Dorothy, who read about my attempt at growing one, little tomato plant, in a pot, and trying to pollinate the flowers with an eyebrow trimmer that vibrates the flower spreading the pollen….or so I’ve been told. I have one tomato growing about the size of a walnut! Lots of blossoms on my plant and larger then yours Dorothy, so we will just wait and see who gets to eat the first fruit of our labor.

HAPPY CANADA DAY

P1050776 I must have taken 8 shots of our proud flag before getting a decent shot. The wind was blowing it around on me.

After ironing and cleaning up around here this morning,  (as yesterday was a potato couch day), Tom took me on one of his mystery tours and we ended up a a pizza place in Lynn Valley, where we had a delicious thin crust pizza, cooked in this big oven.

Canada Day celebration was in full swing, and we sat and watched the entertainment. Lot’s of balloons and this poor kid sitting on the dunk tank, and laughing as everyone missed the target to dunk him. However, I caught him, just as he was going DOWN!!! Just his hands up!

We came home and Tom dropped me off at the end of our street, and I walked to the water, thinking there may be some Canada Day celebration going on, but nothing except a beach full of people. The last couple of nights, we hear the big rolling waves coming ashore, and they continued today.

P1050767This sailboat went over and with the waves, they we’re having a difficult time getting it back to shore.

P1050760Some people finally came to their rescue and got the boat back to safety.

P1050763 We are so lucky to live so close to all this beauty, and everyday, I soak in how nice it is here and feel so thankful.

P1050769 I would have loved to have sat in the sun as it soaked into my bones, but I never put any sunscreen on this morning and with my skin, it’s a must! So, I turned around to head home and the flowers here looked beautiful. All different coloured roses. Our building is directly between those two trees and above the station wagon car.

STRAWBERRIES, HOME GROWN

i love strawberrys

Strawberries…..out of the garden and not those hard white center ones from a greenhouse somewhere….YUM!!! So good!!! What a treat when they come out and what a glutton I am for them! I’ve been eating them for days now, until my system finally put a halt to it all and I’ve had to leave them alone for awhile.

Another thing I can hardly wait for is home grown tomato’s, instead of those hard things that look like tomato’s but taste more of fake replica. I love toasted tomato sandwiches with mayo and sometimes onion! Yum!

I’ve got one tomato plant growing on the deck and it’s full of little yellow blossoms, but was told the other day that I needed bee’s to make the tomatoes grow. The other alternative is go vibrate the leaves so the pollen falls off. So every so often I go out with Toms battery nose and eyebrow trimmer and vibrate each little blossom.

A tomato plant has never been so pampered!!! I feed it with Miracle Grow and make sure it has lots of water and even sing little songs to it. Guess what? I have one little tomato growing!! It must be the Michael Jackson songs running through my head, (for some reason lately), that the tomato plant loves, although all I can think of is “Beat it, Beat it”. It’s been played over and over these past few days on TV.

I think I’ve had enough of Michael Jackson and the same news over and over. I think this is going to go on for a long time yet!! Enough already!!!

Today, Tom had his appointment with the Healthy Heart Clinic at St. Paul’s Hospital. What a fabulous program!! We had appointments with first a nurse that went over his last blood reports, then a dietician, that was very helpful, then a doctor, who went over his entire medical history, and finally a cardiologist. We discovered that Tom had a heart attack in the past, that has destroyed a part of the lower bottom of his heart. We we’re told, he’s a very lucky man to still be here, when his heart was in such bad shape.

Next step is into a exercise program, that I will take part with him in and, although Tom will be monitored through out it all. I’m on my own, but that’s okay, because it’s always more fun doing this together and urging one another on with support, and heaven knows….I sure need it!!

It’s a three month program, twice a week. This will take us to Sept, when the kids have returned to school and given us seniors back the pool.

So, I’m looking forward to better health for both of us!!

That’s it for tonight!!

The person from California that wrote me regarding my  blog and the trip on the Veendam to South America, please write back and I can give you more information and pictures, hints and tips, if you would like.
