HAMBURGER SOUP

THIS IS A SPECIAL REQUEST FROM HELEN AND BARBARA!
ENJOY!!

DON'T BE DECEIVED BY THE NAME, THIS IS A FAMILY FAVOURITE, FREEZES WELL, AND IS ABSOLUTELY VERY EASY TO MAKE AND DELICIOUS TO EAT.
NOTE. I  ALWAYS THROW IN A HANDFUL OF GRATED CHEESE IN MY BOWL WHEN I SERVE IT.

HAMBURGER SOUP

1 1/2 lbs. of lean ground beef
1 medium onion, finely chopped
28 oz. can tomatoes
2 cups of water
3-10 oz. cans of consomme'
10 oz. can tomato soup
4 carrots, finely chopped
1 bay leaf (I leave this out..(I hate bay leaf!)
3 celery stalks, finely chopped
parsley
1/2 TSP thyme ( I leave this out too, I hate lots of spices)
pepper to taste
1/2 cup of barley

Brown meat and onions, drain well, combine all ingredient in large pot (I use crock pot)
Simmer, covered, a minimum of 2 hours
Serves 10

Let me know how you like it! We sure love it here, and all those who have tried it do also!
This is from the recipe book called "Best of Bridge Series"

Thanks Helen and Barbara for all your support!
