ANOTHER DAY IN THE LIFE AT OUR HOUSE!

squirrel laying down.cute

First the good news!!

Woke up this morning after being on the South Beach Diet and lost 7 pounds in a week!

Next the bad news!!

Stuck to my diet to a T and just stepped on the scales and it tells me I’m only down 5 lbs!!

All I can say about that is ..SHIT!!! (excuse my language…but I’m using the mildest swear word I can use on here!!)

Tom is down 3 lbs, but he CHEATS!! On the way to the mall today, he says “I feel so skinny!”

We even went to Tim Horton’s, using Irene’s lovely gift certificate, and we ONLY had a coffee! Not even a miserable little Timbit! It’s taken the joy out of going on our little shopping trips. But, I’m sticking to this easy to follow diet, although, it’s a little rough the first 2 weeks, but looking forward to the added food like bread and strawberries and more, on our second part of the diet.

But, the day wasn’t lost, because I ended up buying this beautiful hand made leather purse, that is soft as silk, beautiful leather and the right size..not too big, and small enough not to put my shoulder out of joint, yet carry all I need to carry. A low price too…life is good!

Now, more bad news!

We came home and Tom is wondering about the phone bill and just what we are being charged for. Last year, I had called them to find out also and it ended up, they had been charging us for TELUS equipment, which we don’t have, to the tune of $238.00. So, they gave us a credit and all was well. However today, Tom spent over an hour trying to reach the TELUS office, kept being passed on to people who would pass him on to someone else, then someone else….you know the drill!! Then they told him he was in a queue  and they would phone him back when it was his turn. The phone rang, Tom picked it up on the first ring and nobody was there, and he waited about 4 minutes and with the air blue with swear words, he hung up!! Talk about being frustrated, I thought he was going to tear the phone from the wall!!

So, then I tried, and with the luck of the Irish, got through immediately and was connected with a wonderful girl who explained everything to us, and helped save us some money. Then we asked about our cell phone which is on a “pay as you go plan” at $10.00 a month. That was great, however we have racked up a spare $250.00 in spare minutes! Which we find out is non-refundable and to use it up, we have to use the darn phone more!! But the young man I talked to was great explaining the plan and did try to get us a refund for us for the $250.00

Oh yeah…forgot about what else went wrong….MY COMPUTER!!!! Damn thing will NOT stay connected to the modem. Right in the middle of something, it tells me I’m offline and can’t connect to Internet Explorer, yet when I check, it’s already connected and fine!! It’s driving me crazy and it’s my turn to turn the air blue!! It’s been a fun day!!

However, it really has been a good day! In fact a very good day! Always many laughs between us, as well as much love passing back and forth every minute.

And as they say..” Don’t let the little things in life get you down!”

SHIT!!

WHAT TO WRITE ABOUT ON A LAZY DAY

cat with mouse on it's nose

Woke up this morning with absolutely no energy! Gone! Zip! Is it the dieting and burning off the fat that has me feeling like I need toothpicks to keep my eyes open?

We had our diet breakfast, a mushroom and onion and cheese omelet for breakfast, then Tom sat and worked on my computer tying to fix it, but there are still some bugs in it yet.

Then lunch of a spinach salad and salmon and Jell-O for dessert.

Then I sat around waiting for Tom who said he was going for a walk with me, but instead he ended up on the couch for a long snooze while I waited!!! So, here it is almost dinner time and we haven’t done a darn thing all day!

So, nothing to tell you about, so I’ll just show you a few pictures of this and that!

A MEDICAL DAY

MEdical

Getting older seems to bring with it doctor and specialist appointments here and there. Nothing ever seriously wrong, just doing what the medical association prods us to do each year, by having an annual check-up! So, being the good patients we are, off we went    to see our wonderful physician for the results of our blood work and EKG, and tests....just to be on the safe side, because as they say "getting older isn't for sissy's!"

So, when he was reading my blood work and other such tests involved with having a physical, he said....(“Linda, I'm amazed at how wonderful your blood work is and your EKG is perfect, look at the ranges, they are just great!") I wasn't really surprised, as I feel very healthy, and didn't expect any big change from last year, even though, I can feel age creeping up to me. He's a very through doctor and as I sat on his medical table he took my blood pressure and it was in perfect range. Then he asked if I ever had chest pains, or gastric problems, or any other kind of problem, and I answered no to everything. Then he asked how was my mind! Tom who was also in the room gave a great snicker, and we all laughed, and I told the doctor, that along with aging, comes the problem that sometimes, of course, it takes me longer to come up with someone's name or where I put something and how sometimes I can go into a room and forget why I went in....the usual stuff! So, he began to feel around my neck with his hands, listening to the blood flow with his stethoscope and taking more time then I was beginning to feel comfortable with.

Then he decides to send me for a carotid artery ultrasound, which test the flow on each side of the neck which carries blood from the heart to the brain! Gosh, maybe I really am losing it!!!

FORGETFULNESS-1

Tom’s physical came out great as well, other then having more blood work done for possibly having B12 shots.

He then suggested we change our diet from The Carbohydrate Addicts Diet to the safer, South Beach Diet, so now, I’m trying to learn this new system of eating.

So, I suppose we are all set for another 1000 miles!

Then we went for a coffee and a biscotti!!

Whoop's forgot about the diet, guess I really do need this test!!!!!!!!!

Heading for the bathtub now, if I can find it!

Bye

I’M BACK AFTER SOME COMPUTER PROBLEMS

I'm back Having my computer go down is like having one of my arms cut off!! it all started with a bad file in Picasa, and me trying to fix it, and somehow, my Internet Explorer toolbar went off the radar. So, I thought I’d download Explorer 8 Beta, and see if it would fix the toolbar. This is after trying to restore to an earlier day, but it wouldn’t bring the toolbar back, it just seem to screw up the whole computer. So, I tried to uninstall IE 8. Things got worse!!! Tom figured out that I likely didn’t wait long enough to let the whole program load, as he says, and he’s right, I get impatient and won’t wait for the computer to do it’s thing!!

But, this morning, we got it working and now back in business! What a joy to see it all working right. I even got Picasa to work again!!

happy face 3

Saturday was a gorgeous day and Sunday was the complete opposite! Tom and I went walking and of course along came my trusty camera, so I’ll show you some pictures.

This is a lovely new bridge across a waterway from the melting mountain snow, leading off to the sea. There are many such streams around the area. This new bridge, makes for an even better route to the seawall.

I love the seawall….there’s a ship coming in! Lovely flowers growing. This tree looked like pussy willows.

The next day, Mother Nature played a trick on us and transformed our Spring, back to Winter!

I went for a walk with my camera and took some snowy shots.

This was a little creek, I walked over on my way to the Mall! So Pretty!!

One good thing about this snow, it melts away by afternoon, the sun comes out and we are back to Spring again.

Tom and I have been dieting for the past week. It’s the low carb, high protein diet. I keep going back and forth with 5 pounds gone, then I’m only down 4, then up to 6 lb. lost. It’s not consistent and I hope it starts moving down again soon.Tom is down 1 pound, but we both cheat a little, but he cheats a lot!

But we’ll keep plugging away and keep at it. We’ve sure had a few good laugh over who is catching who in cheating! We didn’t walk today, we feel weak with hunger!!( Don’t believe that!!!)

See you tomorrow! PS...I've added more tunes too!
