MONDAY MORNING WALK IN VANCOUVER

    P1070268

Once again, to take advantage of this fabulous Vancouver weather, Tom and I went into Vancouver and walked along the waterfront trail. How beautiful is was! Great way to get exercise and just enjoy being alive!

The little fellow has his breakfast….a starfish!

P1070272P1070280

Such a beautiful city!!!

Hmmmm, I wonder what this is!!

P1070295

There was falling water down the brick here. So much to see along the way!

P1070306

 Boats and Sea Planes everywhere!!

P1070289

We passed HUGE yachts and then BIGGER then HUGE!! Then these cute little houseboats.

P1070312

The HUGE boat I believe is the boat that Oprah cruised to Alaska in, last year. It belongs to a prominent business man here, undoubtedly rich!!

P1070313

No, I didn’t take a crooked picture….this was the way this leaning little building stood? Could be where the owner of the boat stashes his liquor supply for the boat he owns as it was right at his dock. I’m joking here!!

Vancouver Convention Center. The new facility incorporates a number of key design elements for buildings of this scale. For example, the six-acre green roof provides a home for 20 varieties of plant life, and is pollinated by local bee hives. What’s more, the roof was designed to imitate a gulf island beachfront to provide a nesting ground for local birds. As well, 40 per cent of the building is suspended over water with the foundation specifically designed to recreate a natural shoreline for marine life. Finally, the seawater heating and cooling system makes the convention centre one of the most energy efficient buildings in Vancouver.

Looking across the water at North Vancouver. Why are my pictures so blue?? I may have a wrong setting??

P1070318

I can’t get away from these bird picture’s. Note: To the person who wrote me anonymously from Ambleside in the UK, thank you and I’ll look up your Ambleside after doing this!! I appreciate your post!!

 P1070327P1070328

Called “The King and Queen! Tom said, I wonder how come the King isn’t bigger!! Hummmph….that made me angry!!

P1070330

P1070331

We stopped and had a coffee here, while we watched the planes coming arriving and departing. All the benches in the area, are donated and all have little brass plates on the back, and Tom had a laugh at this one that we sat on.

Believe it or Not!

I wondered what these white things where suppose to represent. Some of these sculptures that we see are strange. Looking closer, it was just bags of fertilizer!!!

ABOVE: Not the old ugly cement trucks for Vancouver, No sireee..these are painted up pretty nice I’d say! More construction going on!

An older building among the modern, an eagle sculpture, and a tourist bus.

The Sails, or Canada Place. I can see these from our bedroom deck.  This is where the cruise ships dock when they are in, however, I think there won’t be anymore until May now. None come to Vancouver in the Fall/Winter season.

P1070365

We found a place for lunch!!

I started this blog at 5pm, and now it’s 10:30 pm and I never got time to finish it before we had to leave for the movies to see CAPITALISM, by Michael Moore!!! We went with my friend Patricia and then for coffee after. We aren't use to being out so late and right now, I’m working hard to finish this and get to bed before my eyes close! So, hope you enjoyed the blog and a little trip around Vancouver.

bear walking away signifying THE END

A LOVELY AUTUMN WEEKEND

hand_holding_autumn_leaf1222522202

What a fantastically, beautiful weekend this has been.

Before I take you on our little mystery trip, that Tom surprises me with, let me show you some pictures of the amazing sunset we had the other night.

First this rainbow, but we had no rain!

P1070195

These picture’s where taken over a period of only a few moments, and it was amazing to see the difference in how the sky and clouds looked.

 P1070200 P1070203 P1070204

P1070205 Pretty Amazing eh?

P1070208 P1070209 P1070211

This was the sky in the other direction, taken just a little earlier. Then I have to show you my Japanese, or is it Chinese lanterns. I was going to paint little Halloween faces on them all, but my felt pen ran out of ink!

P1070206P1070189 P1070193

Today, we took the bus over to Vancouver and got off near Stanley Park, took some picture’s and continued down Denman Street, looking at all the little shops. We stopped for lunch along the way.

 P1070212

This lady statue sits on her bench day and night in all seasons. Passerby’s always make sure this lovely lady has fresh flower’s in her hand.

P1070217

Damn Canada geese just don’t realize they should get flying south! Today was in the 20’s, so, I guess they might be a little confused with this terrific weather!

P1070222

How lucky to catch this heron , sitting on a rock!!

P1070224

P1070225

It was a beautiful day to be out and great sights to behold!!! This is part of Stanley Park.

P1070226

I’ve been told that one man (a rich one), lives in this building and it has an elevator for his car! This building is just across the road from the scenery in the above picture! Not to shabby eh?

P1070228

Yacht Club, and a bunch of rowers in the water.

P1070231

So many people out walking, riding bikes, going far and fast on roller blades and just having a nice day before the Winter rains begin.

P1070232

P1070233

This is one of the huge tree’s that fell when Stanley Park got hit with a terrible wind storm two years ago. They left this tree as a sort of memorial. Amazing thing is…there is bits of growth spurting out of the tips of the branches. It’s just not going to die!!

P1070234

P1070236 P1070235 P1070237

It was a bit of a circle tour which brought us back to this point. Isn’t she beautiful!!

P1070240

Not a great picture, but you can see Vancouver’s first wind power turbine on top of the ski hill. I even caught the sea plane going past!

P1070243

Down by English Bay, this display was set up. I have no idea what it’s suppose to be, but pretty neat to see. They seem a happy lot!

P1070245

P1070247  P1070250 P1070259

P1070249

They all seem to be laughing hysterically

about something funny!!

This is  full grown tree on top of this

condo building. I bet it’s pretty nice up there!!

English Bay with the mountains in the distance. Lot’s of ships out there, but hard to see in this picture.

Well, that’s pretty well our day!! We caught a bus home, tired, but had a good walk, and enjoyed a lovely day!

I finished this book last night and it was very good, but if you are interested in it, I suggest you read The Kitchen Boy by the same author first! I enjoyed it, but i love historical fiction!
