WALK, WALK WALK

SEEMS ALL I EVER DO!
WALK, WALK WALK!

THE REST OF THE TIME, I DO NOTHING!!!

Here's some more pictures of what I enjoy seeing on my walks.
The lonely beach on a cool day, but give it some warm days (if they ever arrive), and the beach will be packed.

A fishing boat out looking for a good catch.

The swans are out doing their patrol of the lagoon.

Not as many ducks around lately. I think they've discovered the bigger pond. (Ocean)
When I got to where these dogs were, they had all been sitting on the log with their tails towards me and now and then the end dog would tumble off. It reminded me of the song "Ten Little Indians, sitting on the bed, one fell off and the other one said...roll over, roll over..."

Come on....give a fellow some room!!!
This was a very windy and cold day. I couldn't make up my mind which direction to walk, and decided the walk the Seawall to Dunderave.
 Looking up our street.
 Spring flowers are beautiful!
Wrong move! Should have gone the other way! I was walking into the wind and was it cold! I had to put my hood up and tie it tight. I felt kind of silly looking when I could see everyone walking towards me, with no hats or looking cold, but people would pass me, and like me, they also had to bend into the wind to walk and had their heads covered with scarves or hats.
This walk should count double calories burned!

That's the Lion's Gate..waaaaaaayyy back there!

That pier ahead is my goal! Where did all the people go??

Whew...out of breath, but I made it!
Dunderave, or Dunderaaave, depending on how posh you want it to sound is a lovely little place. This is where I stop and have a coffee.

 Beautiful bright red tulips!

And pretty pink ones!
I don't know what these are called, but they will look spectacular when they are all in bloom.
Another day...another walk! Going in the opposite direction now, to my favourite spot...The Lagoon!
Below, is at the end of our street and what sat for years as an old gas station site. Ambleside has started to change it to something more beautiful then a weed filled fenced in..nothing!
It's not finished yet, but we have a new sculpture of a "Man of Many Words"...at least that's what I call it.
The next picture is the street opposite.

All the streets are full of colour this time of year.
I started my walk at 7 am and already men are hard at work. They are grooming the beach and moving the logs into place, and pulling up the new ones that have floated in.
The welcome to Vancouver man! What a beautiful, calm day, compared to yesterday!
The Lagoon! I really love sitting here, it's so peaceful and so pretty. Good place to just think and be glad to be alive!
Nice reflections in the early morning sunlight.

Oops! What happened here?? A dead bird up in the tree and a crow getting ready to feast!! Life in the wild eh!

Okay Linda....time to move on!
There's a coffee waiting for you at Starbucks, not too much further.
I think I'm all alone, and suddenly a jogger will whiz pass me and disappear and I feel, so SLOW!!

Entering my 2nd favourite part of this walk, where I head into the woodsy area, before meeting up with the back part of Park Royal shopping centre.
I love it here, the birds are singing, and I find myself humming as I walk along.
Ahhhh, my destination! Starbucks, a hot coffee, soft seat, and beautiful scenery, even from here!

Heading home, I take a different route again. Through some little woods, and along a groomed trail beside the athletic fields. Much more noise here as Marine Drive follows along on the other side.

But, look at the sites along the way!
I should have taken some time to remove that telephone line, but never noticed it until now.

Home again!!
Hope you enjoyed my walk with me! I must find some new routes to take you along with me! I know of another very pretty one, but a little leery taking it through the woods without Tom with me.
Maybe next nice day, we'll go that way!

AMBLESIDE,DUNDERAVE,VANCOUVER, AND HOME

P1060101

This morning we woke early and had our coffee on the deck, as my hair dried in the sunshine. We donned our runner’s, and headed out to Dunderave along the sea wall. From there, we got on a bus, and rode into Vancouver, where we had breakfast, and then took the Sky Train, to the Waterfront. From there, we took the Sea Bus to North Vancouver, got on another bus to Park Royal, which is about one km. from home. Then we walked home!

It was a terrific walk and Tom did wonderful, and is feeling like the Tom before all his health problems began! It’s great to have him back again!

This is about where the sea wall begins.

Many of these Heron’s along the way

Dunderave and where we exit the Seawall.

P1060091

This is taken from the walkway to the Sea Bus. This is also the "SAILS" or Canada Place, that we can see from our bedroom deck. One of the many cruise ships that will be sailing to Alaska tonight. Hmmm, wish we were heading to it instead!

P1060093Looking the opposite direction on the walkway, we cross the railway lines that head East. I’m trying to talk Tom into a cross Canada train trip to Belleville, visit family, onward to Montreal, and Cruise to New York and fly home. I’m dreaming again I think!

P1060094

Hey!! Ian Hanomansing on the Sea Bus. Ian does the CBC evening news across Canada. He’s sure handsome!!

P1060096

A nice ride on the Sea Bus to the North Shore. Much prettier in the Winter with snow on the mountains!

That’s our day which was wonderful!! It’s now nearly supper time, and my thoughts are on what to have. I just know what side dish we are having which is garlic sautéed Spinach. No idea what the main dish is yet, so better go drum up something!

Hope everyone had a good weekend. Our forecast is for HOT weather. Our gas by the way is 111.9 a Litre in case anyone is interested.

COUCH POTATO

Couch potato

That’s me…a true blue Couch Potato today!! It’s now, heading up to 3 pm, and I’m still in my pajama’s and robe.

However, this morning, I got up and made a nice breakfast of bacon and eggs and then went to sit with my coffee to watch The View. For some reason, an urge came upon me, and I set to work cleaning up my little corner area where I sit, on a comfy chair with the computer on my lap, and beside me is a ugly white two tiered table that houses my scanner and all my bits and pieces, that when all contributed, makes this one horrible ugly corner of the room!

I went and grabbed a garbage bag, and started throwing bits of papers with my scribble on them, in the bag, that I know in a few day’s I’ll need, although, I haven’t looked at them in weeks! Out they went!! Some computer passwords to sites I likely won’t return to, bits of healthful tips from Dr Oz, and Oprah, old candy wrappers hidden away (I haven’t eaten ANY candy in a month, since we started this stupid, not working diet!!!!)  I threw out the South Beach diet book, I studied and followed diligently in the garbage bag, but felt guilty and retrieved it, for what reason I don’t know!! Into the bag went old mail, old used, empty envelopes, pens that no longer work, but maybe I should buy refills for….ha!!! When have I ever bought a pen refill, it’s easier to just nab other people’s pens. Tom is still wondering where I nabbed the one from a funeral home and if I have some devious plan to do him in!

Anyway, out went the ugly white table, cleaned up all the junk, my scanner is hidden beside my chair, my computer when not using it sits on another smaller table, and this corner look neater!!

Then Tom got into the act too and decided to start cleaning out the gadgets and junk collected in the cupboards. Out went the too many glasses, out went the broken Silver Bullet, out went the nifty cheese grater, the oil dispensers, my souvenir glass with a light in the bottom, that changes colours, that I got with a cruise drink, that I HAD TO HAVE!!!

Out when many things we don’t use, but takes up valuable space!

And that was our day!!!

Since then I’ve been forwarding a whole mess of jokes that I haven’t opened in days to the people on my joke list, who are probably sick of my name popping up, but too bad because………

who gives a shit I'm retired

                                    ………..that’s what retired people do!!!

So, here I sit, still in my robe, hair uncombed, bed unmade, and garbage sitting in the hallway. Do, I really care? Actually…yeah!! I’m ashamed of myself. I should get dressed, do my hair and make-up and walk to Dunderave, at a good trot and see if these scales will move!! My body just doesn’t want to give up it’s fat!! I SWEAR…I have not cheated even once!!! I’ve followed it to the word. Tom is stuck on 5 pounds and the scales are undecided if it’s 8 or 10 pounds gone….it says it different every time I step on it.  But we will trudge ahead. I’ve set my goal to the end of April and if there isn’t a big weight loss by then, I’m cutting the fat off with a knife!!!

Just to make myself feel better, I will speak the words that hung on the wall in big letters, in my office for many, many years! They where my mantra!!

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense. - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Now, I feel better about being a couch potato!! Tomorrow will be different!
